Well, I guess my bosses make up for my stupendous salary by being unbelievable cheapskates in almost every other area. Pay for a hotel when I live a mere hour's drive away? Half the town's employees live at least that far away from the office, and you don't hear them whining, do you? Besides, I'm an ACO, I'm supposed to be tough or something - aren't I? Hey, we were lucky we finally got air conditioning in our truck at last! Pay for a hotel room? Not when they can weasel out of it!

Anyway, it's just as well. I don't really want to be away from my cats for a whole week, and the new foster all of a sudden revealed three abscessed teeth that were never diagnosed at her initial intake, and so of course not pulled when she was spayed three days ago. So now she's on twice a day Clindamycin and painkillers, and her dental is scheduled for Monday. Someone else will have to bring her in for me, as I have to leave the house at 6 a.m. It's going to be a logistical challenge, but it would be impossible if I was going to be gone for a week. I guess someone else could foster her, or they could board her, but that's why they asked me to foster her in the first place - because all all the foster homes in their network are full just now (sudden influx of cats), and she wasn't doing well being boarded at the animal hospital. And even if this new foster cta wasn't an issue, I still don't want to leave my cats alone for a week, even with a cat sitter coming in to take care of them.

No, I haven't done any traveling in the past three years, ever since my big guy came to live with me, because I don't like to leave him. My cats rule my life.
